I have tremendous reluctance to write this (and then post it), but because I'm keenly aware of how many lives Rags has touched, I feel like I owe it to my extended friend circle to let you all know that Rags -- esteemed companion, beloved hound -- passed away unexpectedly yesterday.
As you will well imagine, I'm pretty upset about this. However, I am working hard to remember that Rags led a full, happy life. He was spoiled rotten, yes, but rarely overindulged. He was loved deeply from the first moment I laid eyes upon him. And he beat the average lifespan for bassets by two full months, yo! I am so grateful for the 9 1/2 years I had him roaming underfoot, making me laugh out loud daily with his antics and spunky personality. He will be missed sorely, but my life was better for having had him in it.
